RSVP Wanneroo

With both Colin Barnett and Brendon Grylls now committed to privatising Western Power, we are staging another Town Hall Meeting to talk about the impact of privatisation on the community.

Our special guest speaker at the Town Hall Meeting will be Yvonne Henderson, a former WA Government Minister, former WA Commissioner for Equal Opportunity and current Panel Member for the People's Inquiry into Privatisation, which has been holding hearings around Australia.

We are also pleased to have received confirmation from Paul Miles, the Member for Wanneroo and new Local Government Minister. This is the first time a member of the Barnett Government has agreed to attend one of our Town Hall Meetings, and we're looking forward to hearing his perspective.

Privatisation will mean bigger power bills, as well as fewer jobs and apprenticeships.  It will mean less money for health and education, because the State will lose the hundreds of millions in dividends and taxes that Western Power generates each year.  Privatisation will also mean cuts to preventative maintenance budgets, resulting in longer waiting times to fix faults and increased bushfire danger.
